Vineyard
"Rooted in the volcanic heart of Etna, our philosophy embraces the land’s raw power and natural balance, crafting wines that are a pure expression of this unique and fertile terroir.”
Terroir
The vineyards of Etna offer an unparalleled expression of the land’s complexity, shaped by centuries of interaction between volcanic activity, climate, and human craftsmanship. Divided into Contrade (CRU), these historic classifications highlight the intricate variations in microclimates and mesoclimates, each influenced by unique layers of lava stratification. This geological diversity creates wines that are not only rich in character but also profoundly reflective of their origins, with each Contrada offering a distinctive interpretation of Etna’s terroir.
Situated at an altitude of 700 meters on the southern slopes of the volcano, these vineyards thrive in a climate that is significantly different from the rest of Sicily. The high elevation ensures cooler temperatures, while the frequent interplay of sunlight and shadow adds depth to the grapes' ripening process. The sharp temperature shifts between day and night intensify the aromatic complexity of the fruit, leading to wines with vibrant, layered profiles. Furthermore, the variety in basaltic soils—from older flows to more recent deposits—imbues the wines with an extraordinary spectrum of minerality, giving each one a personality as multifaceted as the terrain it comes from. With the austerity of the mountain, the salinity of the sea, and a structure built for longevity, these wines stand as a testament to the power of nature and the art of viticulture.
